Celebrating K!

Big boy, about 3 weeks back we celebrated your first birthday! I received the pictures from it last evening and couldn't wait to write about it!

 I am a bit of a planner as you will see when you grow up, so I started planning this day over a month before the D-day! Yes, over a month! :)

There was a lot going on...from designing the invite to deciding on the guest list to finalizing the menu to trying out the recipes and what not!

 O Boy! It was a lot of work for a simple celebration I wanted with family and close friends but all so worth it!

 We were joined by friends!

There were a variety of hors ‘d oeuvres for guests to snack on!

When it was time to cut the cake

 everyone gathered together

and sang you a birthday song! :)

We then blew the candle and cut the cake together! :)

You dug in to get a little taste and I gave you some too! :)

That day for some reason you weren't too much into the cake, but you sure enjoyed playing with the balloons!

At the end of the party, we had party favors for the kids to take home!

I love photography.  Pictures in my mind are a great way to freeze moments and create beautiful memories!  So knowing I would be busy with the guests, I had to have some one cover this special day for me. I reached out to Shauna Ploeger who did a beautiful job covering the evening!

Although you love people and are very social, that evening you were a bit overwhelmed with the crowd. Something I never expected.

You were however back to being yourself when it was time for the "After Party"! Yes, there was an After Party! ;)

and an "After After Party", for which I have no pictures just memories! ;)

This was a celebration to remember!

Having the family over to celebrate your big milestone with us will always be very dear to my heart!

I wish you countless celebrations with loved ones always!

Family outing to the Falls!

While the family was over for Kabir's birthday weekend, we made a short trip to the Great Falls Park one evening. It was a perfect day to be out with the weather in the 70s.

The park was full with people having picnics, doing barbecues and playing all sorts of games.

We walked to the overlook 2 of the fall and caught some nice views!

Then it was time for some family shots! I started with Ammi and Uncle! :)

It was nice of Aman to take my picture with the group too! :)

We met  a very nice lady who offered to take shots of all of us together! I couldn't have been more excited! :)

It was the kind of weekend I like...the one that's with my family! Love 'em all!

Happy 12 months!

Birthday boy, today you turned BIG 1! What a great milestone!

What an exciting year this has been! The whole year just went by in a fly for me. Since a few days now, my mind's been rushing back to this time last year. Having you has been the most beautiful thing and I can't stress enough, how precious you are!

I am going to miss your first year of growing up minus the sleepless nights! ;) So glad I was with you this whole time!

This month was out of ordinary. You've become a total copy cat. It's cute to see you mimic our words and actions.

You're growing naughtier by the minute and having so much fun doing that.

One day you surprised me by getting in between one of the safety doors...

and pushing the whole thing all the way to the wall. That's when I thought to myself that the fun is just beginning! ;)

We are now in Spring and have had some beautiful days. We enjoyed them by going to the parks a lot. Our favorite is Clemyjontri park but mostly we go to Great Falls Grange which is closer to our house.

You love to swing! A smile comes on your face naturally when I am putting you in it! :)

One day we also went to the farm park.

There you also went behind the tractor wheel.

This month, you had your first play date! It was with Seher at the Mary Riley Styles library. Samad, Arjun and Aanya joined too!

I gave you a puzzle a play with

and you got a score!!

After spending some time at the library, you guys also went to the park nearby and had a ball!

You did your first climb this month when you climbed our bed and then there were more to follow!

You can now actually use the stacker the way it is meant to be! You can stack and unstack!

You took your first few steps on your own! Such big milestone! This was so exciting!

You have now been taking steps every now and then but mostly you've been walking with the walker, or anything that you can push whether that's your music table or rocking chair!

You have learned a few new words to say. You can now say "Apple", "Good" and "Cool"!! Pretty cool, isn't it!! :)

Whenever you see someone leave, you say "Ba", which means "Bye":)

You can also clap your hands when asked! Very impressive! :)

You started to open the kitchen cabinets, so we now have secured them.

 However, the minute you see us opening any cabinet, you come rushing!

Weekends were fun time with Dad!

One day I caught you two reading together! :)

Dad even decided to get in your crib one day and you two had fun! :)

 You've been very active, so much so that there have been times when you have slept in your high chair!

Nani Ma arrived a few days back and was thrilled to see you. You guys are now playtime buddies! :)

Today you are with all the people who were here when you were born. What a blessing and such great way to celebrate the day!

More family will be joining us tomorrow for a celebration!

While some family members couldn't be here, they are thinking of you and have sent you their love, best wishes and gifts.

That's how you started the morning today; by opening your presents! :)

In the evening, Nani Ma, Sumit Mamu, Dad and I took you to our favorite Clemyjontri park.
